Stanford Professional Women of Los Angeles

President’s Letter – February 2020

Dear SPWLA Members,

Can you believe it’s already February? Hope your 2020 is off to a wonderful start!

Besides the Morning of Wellness event on January 11, we co-hosted an event with the Stanford Club of Pasadena on the 26th. Prolific fiction and non-fiction writer, Naomi Hirahara, shared some invaluable insights for aspiring writers. Hearing about how Naomi’s experiences at Stanford and as a young journalist prepared her to become an Edgar Award-winning author was incredibly inspiring. Check out her latest book in the Mas Arai murder mystery series, Hiroshima Boy!

SPWLA will continue to cultivate member creativity in 2020 with a craft event on Saturday, February 22nd. At Meaning-Full Art in San Pedro, we will learn to decorate beautiful silk scarves from a professional artist. Afterwards, attendees will be able to network over food truck appetizers and craft beer. Register here to join us and bring out your artsy side!

Please mark your calendars for the next two events in March and April as well:

3/15/2020 – Rosenthal Wines Picnic: Enjoy some delicious wine and snacks while networking with the women of SPWLA. Fingers crossed for the gorgeous weather we are used to in LA! Register here.

4/25/2020 – SPWLA Day: This year’s theme is “Finding Your Purpose”. It is sure to be an amazing event with speakers hailing from an extremely diverse set of backgrounds and experiences—psychotherapy, real estate, emergency medicine, blacksmithing, and American Indian studies, to name a few. Look out for a registration page soon!

Lastly, we are building our social media presence. Give the @stanfordprofessionalwomenla Instagram and the Stanford Professional Women of LA Facebook Group a follow to learn about upcoming events and view pictures from past events!

As always, I welcome any ideas and feedback. Do not hesitate to contact me at:
