Stanford Professional Women of Los Angeles

Recap: Accelerating Your Leadership

By Jennifer Ma MS ’15

Over a cozy meal in Marina Del Rey, a group of Stanford Alumni enjoyed meeting new faces while dining and listening to Executive Coach, Gina Anastasi ’76 speak about her experiences navigating change and growth within the organizations that she worked with.  Ms. Anastasi began the night’s workshop by speaking about which competencies are most highly correlated to leadership effectiveness and business results.  The group learned that being purposeful and visionary ranked the highest, followed by qualities such as fostering teamwork, interpersonal intelligence, mentoring and developing and strategic focus.  We then spoke about how to apply some of the top leadership competencies to our own lives in the next 30 days.

Overall, we all enjoyed hearing about the leadership challenges that everyone faced in daily life while setting practical goals for ourselves.  All in all, an inspiring night that encouraged us to be better leaders both in our workplaces and personal lives.
